Gaiwan Tea House
Earlier this year I styled some photos for a local tea house that opened up in our town. Gaiwan Tea House is located at 901 N. 4th Street Coeur d’Alene, ID. They offer a variety of teas from around the world. The owners and staff are highly educated about tea and flavors and methods of making tea.
This place does not have WiFi. It’s intention is that you meet with friends face to face and enjoy a mug of tea while actually looking and speaking to each other. It deters the use of phones and other devices. The atmosphere reflects this. It is slow, calm, and peaceful. Unlike many more bustling coffee shops around town.
I worked with a host of local artisans and crafters to create this shoot. You can see cuffs from Coy Jewelry and Koko & Lou here in this image. We also used some great cozy clothes from Nanamacs and what our model had in her wardrobe.
The owners pumped out many cups of tea just how they serve to guests and our crew styled and prepped them for these images by Katya Higgins.
Matt and Snowy Kauffman purchased this run down form home in our midtown district of Coeur d’Alene. They spend months adding unique handmade touches. The place is now bright and airy and has a very peaceful feel to it.
If you enjoy tea and are looking for a cozy atmosphere to read in or meet with a friend, Gaiwan is a great place. You can read more about them and find their website here. I continue to visit this tea house almost weekly. It’s a great place for reflection, connection, and peace. Gaiwan is also a great place to try something other than coffee if you’ve already drank three cups most mornings like me.
